We were very lucky to have found SailTheGreekIslands.com, when searching for our Greece vacation. Yiannis was so helpful and accommodating when responding to all of my emails and numerous questions I had about the chartering of a yacht and going to the Greek Islands. Yiannis was chartering another family around so he set us up with a skipper named Spyros who was amazing! Spyros taught the kids how to do sailor knots, was helpful in explaining to all of us how to sail a yacht, and he was just all-around very informative and fun to be around. Aside from the first day of sailing we had pretty calm water. Some in our group were prone to motion sickness and having sea bands really helped with this. On the first day you'll have to go grocery shopping and be prepared to get plenty of water, alcohol, toilet paper, and paper towels. Also if you have room, pack beachtowels. Be prepared for a couple of long sailing days by bringing games, cards, other things for your group to do. Also bring a car charger for your electronics to plug into. I cannot rave enough about this wonderful experience that we had. It was so out of the ordinary of what we usually do for a vacation. We were very fortunate and grateful to have found Yiannis and SailTheGreekIslands.com. I want to thank both Yiannis and Spyros for such an amazing week!

One of the best vacations our family has ever taken. Captain Yiannis was a pleasure to sail with and knowledgeable about the islands. If you are looking to relax and have some adventure at the same time, this is the vacation for you. Wonderful sights, delicious food, good company, fantastic memories! ~ The Hickman Family 2017

Honeymoon Sailing the Greek Islands
When we first decided to get married in Italy we thought what a great honeymoon idea it was to sail around the Greek Islands. We began our search using google and came across sailthegreekislands.com. Our emails to Yiannis Stassis were answered in a timely manner full of information. Coordinating the trip from abroad was easy and effortless. Once we arrived at the port we met our Skipper Yianni, and he greeted us with the warmest welcome having not met before. He then took us in his personal vehicle to get groceries to start our journey together. He was so very helpful in getting the things we needed and not too much of the things we didn't. Once we got settled onto the ship he gave us a tour of the ship and some of the duties we might be asked to do along the way.
Being on our honeymoon, we were apprehensive about spending a week in such close quarters with someone we had never met. That was the least of our worries once we met Yianni. Never really being on a sailing vessel before it was a little intimidating but Yianni made us feel at ease and comfortable for what was ahead. Yianni is so very knowledgeable about sailing, the islands, and knows much about Greek history. He made us feel like we were on a real adventure seeing all the beautiful islands.
Yianni was a real joy to be around. He was full of knowledge and presented it to us in a fun way. His personality was a warm and a fun loving one. Yianni has a true passion for sailing and for the sea, which he shared with us. You could always count on the end of the days sailing to be relaxing, full of laughter, some music and food, and everyone Cheers "ing" to YIAMAS (to our health). We couldn't have asked for a better skipper on our first sailing voyage and the beginning of our lives together.

Sailing with the family!
Our family just returned from a two week sailing trip with Yiannis Stassis. This is the 5th time my husband and I have chartered a sailing trip in Greece and every time it has been a new adventure! Yiannis is a very calm, experienced skipper and we had total faith in his ability to navigate through any situation. His knowledge of the islands and his ability to speak both English and Greek well makes it very easy to maneuver through anything that comes your way. We have had rough water, calm water and everything in between. This is a terrific way to see Greece. We spent time in the more popular spots such as Mykonos and Hydra as well as some very small, charming islands like Iraklia and Ios which were some of our favorites. Sailing allows you to go where many people have yet to travel. The Greek people were always welcoming and helpful to us. The water is beyond beautiful - clear and azure blue. One of our favorite swimming spots was in a bay at Poly Agos which will remain etched in my memory for sure. We saw amazing ruins on Delos where you can try to imagine how people lived over two thousand years ago. So many experiences!! It was a great way to celebrate our 60th birthday with our two (adult) daughters. We had a blast and would recommend it to anyone with a taste for adventure and a love for water.

A Holiday of a Lifetime!
We spent a fabulous week sailing with Yannis around the Ionian Islands. Yiannis was a great Captain, taking us to beautiful swimming spots every day and picturesque harbours at night. Sailing was painless and easy, everything was calm and relaxing. There were 7 of us on board and we all agreed it was the best holiday ever! Matula our hostess was an absolute star, happy, smiling, a fantastic and innovative cook, nothing was too difficult for her, she is a delightful person who went out of her way to make one of our group's birthday a special event. Besides the swimming Fiscardo and Assos were highlights. If I'm being fussy, next time I'd check that there were sufficient glasses. Being Australia and, we like a drink and there were just not enough glasses for beer and water let alone wine and champagne on the top of that. Also the toilet smells for the first day or two were an issue for the 'ladies', but at the end of the day these issues did not detract from the great time we had. I have no hesitation in recommending Yiannis and the Ionian Isles and would do this again any day.

Come and see for yourself! You will be home!
Our first (second) day was the Acropolis. Acro - "tip end or height", polis - "of town". We owe to Greece: Democracy, Medicine, Philosophy. As President Clinton said, (borrowing a line from JFK), "We are all Greek!" For citizens of the west, no truer words were spoken.
On our third day we joined Captain Yiannis and Hostess Fotini on the S/V Amorgos in Lavrion. Lavrion is a working port. The ubiquitous ferry greeted us with a “toot”, “Hello I’m here. How are you?” After stowing our gear, Cap’t Yanni said, “Let’s go!” and we were off to our first port of call.
Now, six days later we are bittersweet; leaving our new friends: We hope our connection with Yiannis and Fotini lasts forever!
In the mean time we have experienced a re-birth from the cradle. “Take me Lord, for I have seen enough!” Civilization experienced, not from textbooks but from the ancient artifacts. Made of marble, built to last – forever.
I’ve sailed with many Captains – Yiannis is the complete package- competent, knowledgeable, and personable and above all a citizen of Manna Gaia - “Mother Earth”. He has our respect for sailing seamanship as well as his ability to judge our “comfort level”, anticipate our wants and needs and act accordingly.
Fotini is Captain Yiannis’ most often requested hostess. She is an amazing person, smart, graceful, beautiful and an excellent hostess. I am sure everyone who sails with her would take her home on terms of her choosing.
We are all Greek. We are home. We owe our civilization to these people. Come and see for yourself. You will fall in love again!

WOW! This was our second sailing trip with Yani and we had another great trip. Our first trip left from Athens and this trip left from Corfu. We visited Paxos, Lefkas, Ithaca, Kafalonia, Parga and back to Corfu. We each had our own favorite Island. My favorite was Ithaka as we enjoyed the History and significance of this island. Once again Yani, you were courteious, professional, Safety concience, environmentally concience and you have maintained your zest for life. Our family thanks you and we will see you for our 3rd Odessy to the islands of Greece in 4 years when Al graduates.
Your friend, Tom.

Our trip around the Greek Isles was fantastic. With the expertise and charm of our Captain, Yiannis Stasis and hostess Emilia we were warmly welcomed at the pier for our catamaran sail. Our every wish was considered and fully fulfilled by Yiannis and Emilie. Both were professional, courteous and warmly engaging. We were regaled by family stories, sailing tales, and delightful humor. Yiannis provided informative and thoughtful ideas for us as we toured the islands to enrich our trip. He provided us multiple itineraries for us to consider. The only limiting factor which we had to consider in our sail was the wind. The wind strength and duration can alter any itinerary. Yiannis is a great captain, and good man. I would charter with him again as soon as possible.

We are Returners - if there is such a word. Four years ago we sailed the Ionian islands with Yiannis and we couldn't wait to come back and do the Cyclades. We had an exceptional time with Yiannis and I guess we would not be coming back if we didn't think we would have the best service, the best seas and views and overall the most amazing week on the Aegean sea. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather so it was warm enough to swim in refreshing and crystal clear waters, we took long hikes to the most picturesque view points and villages and ate like kings and queens. We had our three young men with us who loved the variety, loved the adventure, the dolphins who swam with the boat and the turtle who was curious about us. Every beach was a revelation and it was all thanks to our great skipper Yiannis - will we be back? For sure as we haven't quite seen all the Greek islands. Yiannis thanks so much for all your cheer and expert guidance. We loved every minute of it. Marina Marangos, Charles Gilks, Anna Marangou, George, Nicholas and Anthony Marangos-Gilks
